Who we are
We are a heartfelt foundation that is touched by God to carry out this work of helping homeless and hopeless orphans to get assistance from the outside to help combat their problems here at the refugee camp.
it is quite hard to understand why innocent children suffer the doings of some power greed people who fight to gain power. The Liberian Civil war has made thousands of children orphans, homeless, traumatized, illiterate and has left most of them in bad health conditions such as being handicaps and deformed.
The Ourchildren-Ourfuture is a new foundation that was established on the Bududuram refugee camp in 7th December 2008 by a group made up of few people who came together to realized that establishing this foundation to help alleviate the problems of Liberian refugee children in Ghana is imperative.
It is set up with the mind of gathering Liberian Refugee Children together,to gear them toward one goal which is to give them a better future.Education is the key to success as the saying goes.
Many children are going through painful and wasteful years of struggle on the camp with their heads held up high and the hope that someday, someone will come to their rescue, we search for their interests,their potentials to see the need to help them in anyway we can. We have been going through the camp visiting houses and the streets seeking the views of refugee children about their thoughts, hopes, passions and needs. The main words that popped out of almost every kids mouth was the provision of food and education.
They have the desire and zeal to learn and to do their best in school. We see that good medication is also an essential factor to the lives of the children; they do not receive any medical assistance due to the reason they cannot afford to pay the bills. Therefore they are struck with diseases like Malaria polio, kwashiorkor, rickets, malnutrition; and all the six killer diseases. Some of children have also contracted the deadly HIV virus and are lack of care and attention. With all these problems we pray that the Lord touches the heart of people to extend some help to these children and to come to their aid.
